We welcome any parishioner interested in participating in visioning, planning, and implementing current and future education and formational programs to join our Commission. Meetings are held monthly August to June on the first Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. |

Ministries: Adult Resource Center (ARC) Our parish library offers updated inspirational, religious and scriptural materials including books, videos, tapes, and CDs. Materials are also available on a cart in the Narthex after the Sunday Masses.
Adult Catholic Catechism Discussion Group This Discussion Group is designed to be user-friendly, low-maintenance, high-satisfaction! The US Catholic Catechism for Adults is our text. Catholics Returning Home (CRH) CRH is a parish out-reach program that invites non-practicing/inactive Catholics to return “Home to the Catholic Church.” Watch for information during Lent. Six-week series begins after Easter.
English as a Second Language (ESL) More than a dozen volunteer teachers provide English language instruction to adults who want to learn or to improve their English speaking skills. We meet on Sunday mornings during the school year. Adults whose native languages include Spanish, Polish, Lithuanian, Chinese, and Italian have joined our group. The teachers include doctors, nurses, current and former teachers, and a volunteer at an animal shelter! Everyone is welcome!
Marriage Prep Engaged couples meet with a married "leader" couple to discuss relevant topics to set the foundation for a successful and happy marriage. Volunteer as a Leader Couple: benefits 1. Opportunity to mentor young couples; 2. Brings the married leader couple closer in their relationship. 3. Commitment: 3 evenings per year.
Moms in Touch (MIT) We meet informally 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. in the Chapel on Thursdays for prayer and faith sharing. Please join us.
Ministry of Mothers Sharing (MOMS) MOMS fosters spiritual growth by providing an 8-week journey that leads a group of mothers through an experience of ministry, self-discovery, mutual support and prayer.
Mothers of Young Children (MOYC) MYOC offers mothers of young children the opportunity to share the joys and struggles of the ministry of motherhood. Our meetings are held on the first Sunday of each month at 7 p.m. We also have social events throughout the year including dinners, movies, and other activities. Please come and share with us!
Parish Mission Planners EFC is responsible for scheduling the Parish Mission. This bi-annual spiritual development event is open to all parishioners. Volunteers may be called upon to assist in planning, hospitality, publicity and liturgy planning. We’re planning now for Parish Mission 2009
Parish Religious Education We offer religious education and spiritual formation to all children in levels K through 8, and prepare them for the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation Parents are encouraged to enrich their faith by attending opportunities for prayer and spiritual formation designed for adults. RCIA - Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults Catechists, sponsors and directors accompany adults on their faith journey. They are guided to enter or to complete their initiation. They are prepared to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.
SouthWest InterFaith Team (SWIFT) SWIFT is a non-profit organization located in the South & Southwestern Suburbs of Chicago. Members include churches, mosques, and synagogues. It provides a forum for Christian, Muslim and Jewish people to educate, interact with, and learn from each other. Volunteers may come together to work on a variety of community projects such as Habitat for Humanity. The SWIFT Board meets on the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at St. Stephen the Deacon parish.
Vacation Bible School This summer program is open to the youngsters of St. Michael. Watch our weekend bulletins for information in late spring. A faith-filled, fun-filled festive four days each summer!
