EUCHARIST

Click here for Eucharist Timeline for 2007-2008

The Holy Eucharist is central to our faith.  Preparation for receiving the sacred Body and Blood of Christ begins in grade-level 2.   The Church and our parish  community form the family of faith to teach and guide the youngster toward a life-long learning process.  When a child reaches the age when she/he understands the meaning of the Eucharist and asks to come to the Table of the Lord, the child is welcomed and initiated into the faith community by receiving the Eucharist.  The sacrament of Holy Eucharist continues the initiation begun at Baptism.  The initiation process continues through the conferring of Confirmation, the final sacrament of initiation.

Ë     As our second graders prepare for this sacrament, the school and religious education children use the Blest Are We series as their text.

Ë     The sacrament of Reconciliation precedes First Communion.

Ë    Information and formational meetings for both parent and child are scheduled during the year.

Ë     Other preparation prior to First Communion Day includes: a retreat day for the children and practice for the sacramental day.
