RECONCILIATION Our Christian life is an ongoing journey. On this journey we often wander off course. In the Sacrament of Reconciliation we celebrate God’s mercy and God’s willingness to forgive us for our sins and failures to live as children of God. The Sacrament preserves our honest acknowledgement of our need for God’s mercy and our desire for ongoing conversion Ë Parental participation and involvement is essential for our children to understand this Sacrament. In the family, children learn attitudes of forgiveness and sin. Ë Children experience God’s love through the love of their parents and families. Ë First Reconciliation is received in grade-level 2 prior to First Eucharist. Ë As our second graders prepare for this sacrament, the school and religious education children use the Blest Are We series. Ë The sacrament is received on a Saturday, usually in February. Ë In years following first Reconciliation, children will receive annual preparation for this sacrament as is appropriate to their maturity. Ë Reconciliation is offered at least once during each catechetical year.
