GIFT ~ Growing in Faith Together...
GIFT is a unique approach to faith formation. It involves all generations and every member of each household of St. Michael in learning and growing together through lived faith experiences and through their participation in Catholic Christian life. GIFT includes event-centered festivals for people of all ages to deepend their understanding of the basic beliefs and practices of their Catholic faith. GIFT empowers all to live their faith more fully at home, in the parish, and in the world.
Our first GIFT festival of the year was held on Saturday, October 22, 2011. It was a wonderful success. We were reminded that our Sunday worship and our daily Living in Christ are intimately connected. We met Roman Missal live in person and learned about the changes that will affect the assembly as we played Jeopardy with Roman and four of our altar servers. We were given concrete ways as to how we can "Go in peace to love and serve the Lord and one another." Pinwheels were made that will remind us of our commitment to service. The activities in Prayer Connections helped us to understand that our prayer at the Mass leads us to pray in many diverse ways outside the Sunday Liturgy. We put the pieces together and saw how wonderfully connected our worship and lives can be.
Our next GIFT festival will be held on Saturday, March 10th and Monday, March 12th. Let's increase the number in attendance from 400 to 600!
